Today we played away to new team East Durham Blue Belles. The game started well for us seeing us applying pressure at their goal from the off. Our opponents did well to keep us out but finally we managed to convert in the 8th minute of the game, a terrific cross from Armstrong who picked out Scott seeing her slot the ball in the goal with ease. The next 10 minutes saw an array goals with the following players also getting on the score sheet: Scott [2], Turnball, Armstrong and Andrews.
The creations and finishes of every goal in the first half were fantastic and all came because of team play starting right from the back four.
The second half only saw one goal scored by the home side but what a finish it was. Armstrong stepped up to take the corner and fired it into the box finding Turnballs head who fired it right past the keeper and opposing defenders. We had a load of other chances, but our opponents and their keeper did very well to keep us out. In the final minutes of the game Blue Belles broke and scored against the run of play.
Player of the match was awarded to Armstrong for her fantastic hard work for her entire time on the pitch. She grafted for the whole time, scored a cracking goal as well as assisting three more.
Unfortunately, we didn't manage to keep a clean sheet today but a huge learning curve for the girls ensuring in future games they don't switch off when we have such a vast lead. Some excellent goals and football seen played by the entire team. Well done Ladies keep up the hard work.
