Today we played our final game of the 2018-2019 season which was a subsidiary cup match. All we had to do was win to secure the Subsidiary Cup title after beating contenders Darlington Spraire and with more or less a full squad the girls were not going to do anything but win today.
The game started well for us seeing the ball not leave our opponents half for most of the half. We created excellent chances at goal but the Blue Belles defended well and their keeper pulled off some tremendous saves. It was finally in the 12th minute of play that we converted our first chance with a tremendous cross in from Turnball finding Stubbs on the outside of the box who wellies the ball crashing past the Blue Belles keeper. This started our goal scoring seeing Stubbs bag herself a hattrick with another two fantastic finishes as well as a superb header from Turnball.
We went into the half time break comfortably ahead and made lots of subs to ensure everyone had decent game time. The second half seen only two goals but lots of brilliant football as well fantastic attacking play. Turnball bagged herself another goal giving her a brace and Scott also hit the netting putting her total goals scored for the season at a whopping 50 goals. The girls worked hard until the final whistle and were denied many goals due to the excellent shot stopping of the Blue Belles goal keeper.
Player of the match was awarded to Turnball for her fantastic effort and performance from start to finish. She worked her socks off for the entire time on the pitch and created lots of excellent attacking play.
Overall, a great team performance and some excellent team goals. An excellent way to end a great season. Well done Girls.... Now enjoy your break.
