Rutherford Ladies v Washington Development Ladies [Friendly]

Third friendly of the 2019-2020 season today at home to Washington Development Ladies & seeing another great win for the team.
The game couldnt of started any better for us seeing the fantastic striking duo create the first goal of the game only 2 minutes into play. It was Mel who played a superb ball through finding Crid's feet who struck the ball & beat the Washington keeper. Less than 8 minutes later Mel won the ball & netted one of her own.

The team continued to battle hard looking for the next goal and finally it came in the 31st minute of play with a tremendous strike from Rachel. A few minutes later we won a corner. Crid stepped up to take it and fired in a cracking ball. There was a bit of scramble in the box but Rachel worked hard and managed to knock the ball over the line. Now cruising with a 4-0 lead the girls relaxed and concentrated on playing more football.

The second half opened up much like the first with us scoring in the 2nd minute of play. This time is was hardworking Jade who set up the goal which was finished brilliantly by Leah... a fab left footed goal. The game then seemed to go slightly stale for around 20 minutes or so and it was Washington who scored the next goal of the game in the 75th minute of play. This woke us up and the team couldn't of reacted any better.

In the 80th, 82nd, 83rd and 85th minute of the remaining half talented striker Melissa netted 4 fantastic goals. It's fair to say our opponents didnt know how to handle her. These brilliantly set up and finished goals more than sealed the game and give us a final scoreline of 9-1.
Player of the match was awarded to Charlene for her fantastic effort from start to finish. She created some excellent chances at goal and give 110% throughout the whole game.

A brilliant team performance and an excellent win. Fantastic seeing the team going from strength to strength each week.
