First friendly of the 2019-2020 done & dusted... firstly want to say a massive welldone to both sets of lasses.... our opponents Wallsend Boys Club ladies Reserves & our own ladies team for battling without a whinge or a moan throughout today's awful, hideous weather.
A great display of football from both sides with chances at both ends. It was us that took the lead after only 1 minute of play with a terrific ball played in from Squeak finished brilliantly by Crid. A few mins for the first half whistle we got the second goal this time played in from Leah who found new signing Hannah. She wellied a shot from around 30 yards out beating the keeper.
The second half Wallsend came at us hard and their fresh legs caused a stir for us. We had key players missing today including our goal keeper. Huge big up to our Lucy who done a cracking job in between the posts.
Wallsend scored in the 60th minute closing that 2-0 lead. The team battled hard and finally with only 15 minutes to play Fairbairn won the ball and played it through to Crid who sent it straight past the keeper getting a well deserved brace.
Great team effort against a good and physical side.
Player of the match today was awarded to Leah for her brilliant effort and composure from start to finish. She battled her socks off creating brilliant chances.
Well done ladies... now for Blyth Town on Tuesday... our biggest test yet.
