Rutherford through and throughBiography
I have managed the womens side since I was just sixteen years old, often playing as well especially in the beginning to help make up numbers. I have really enjoyed managing the squad over the years and have learned so much from it. Originally when I first took up the managing role I ran the development squad for a round 6 years. When the first team folded during season 2008/2009 my development team then became the main Ladies side. They stepped up to the plate brilliantly especially after loosing a lot of our long serving players along with the first team. Over the past few seasons I have worked really hard along with the help of dad 'Steve' who is the Director of Football' at the club to recruit new players to strengthen the squad. The new faces we have gained over the seasons have fitted in brilliantly and the team work on the pitch definately reflects this. I love managing this group of girls.... they are friends both on and off the pitch which creates a terrific 'Football Family'. This is how i like to run my team, plenty of encouragement and fun, not too serious and no pressure on the girls to win although it is nice but the main aim for me is for everyone to enjoy it because at the end of the day its a hobby that we all give up our time to be a part of and when people are having fun thats when they perform a lot better as a team. Even though i've been managing the side since I was 16 a short break from role showed me how much i missed it and i'm feeling fresh and looking forward to the seasons ahead with this great squad of girls. I now also coach a junior team within the club.
