Today we travelled away to Chester Le Street Waldridge Park in the league. The game started shaky for us, seeing us struggling to play simple football and as a result cause us a lot of unnessasary problems. Regardless of the fact we weren't playing the best football we were still creating a lot of chances at goal but struggling to convert. Waldridges goal keeper and centre half kept us out for the majority of the first half.
Finally in the 35th minute of play we managed to score our first goal of the game seeing hardworking Wilson lob the keeper from just beyond the half way line. The next 10 minutes of the half saw another two fabulous goals. The first scored from a corner by Fairbairn and the second seeing Stubbs play in a terrific cross to Scott who beat the keeper with ease.
The second half saw us play a lot more football, getting the ball down and playing it wide which in turn saw us create a load of chances. In the 76th minute Turnball played in a great ball to Scott who sent it crashing past the Waldridge keeper. Not even two minutes later Scott won the ball on the right wing and travelled towards goal beating numerous opposing players on her way and finally sending the ball crashing past the keeper for her hattrick and the teams fifth goal.
Player of the match today was awarded to Montgomery for excellent performance at full back, a position she has never played in before but was fantastic never the less.
Overall, a good game of football seeing the team create lots of excellent chances and keep a well earned clean sheet. Well done ladies.
