Today we replayed our FA Cup tie at home to Thornaby Women from the league above. Last week it was abandoned by the referee due to thunder/lightning and extreme heavy rain.
The home team suffering another loss of a player to injury as well as other players missing for holidays saw a squad of 13 for the game.
The first half saw a shaky performance by the home side lifting the ball far too much and giving away possession too easily. They still battle hard against their opponents and made it incredibly hard for them when attacking at goal with constant pressure. Unfortunately in the 25th minute of play a long balll into the box from a Thornaby player saw the side net the one and only goal of the game.
The second half the home team put in a far better performance seeing them very much on top of the game but with no reward in front of goal.
A short lived FA Cup run this season but despite all thats went against this team, the players we've lost to injuries they just keep solidering on and always make a great account of themselves. Well done girls.
Player of the match today was awarded to full back Jodi for her absolutely superb performance from start to finish. Like the previous game she was marking their star player who recently signed from Middlesbrough. Jodi worked her socks off and pretty much kept her out of the game. It was a great physical battle between the two players. Jodi is improving every week and turning into a superb defender... well done Jodi!!!
