Today we welcomed Horden CW Women to our home ground in another league game hoping for 3 points after last week’s first defeat.

The game didn’t start great for us seeing a lot of poor off the ball movement which allowed our opponents to intercept a lot of our play. The team created chances despite not performing the best as a team but credit to Horden’s keeper who kept us out for the entire first half.

The second half saw a far better team performance by the home side which resulted in taking all 3 points and 4 superb goals scored.

The first goal came in the 49th minute of play seeing full back Fairy travel with the ball down the right of the pitch playing it into Charlene who crossed it into the box where striker Mel header it perfectly into the back of the net.

In the 65th minute of play winger Ava picked up a lose ball passing it to full back Fairy. Fairy struck the ball first time into striker Mel who squared it to Courtney seeing her first touch beat the Horden for the second time in the game.

It was midfielder Zarr who drove the ball forward in the 83rd minute for our third goal. She drove the ball to the edge of the box playing it through to striker Mel who struck it with her first touch finishing it past the pressure of the Horden keeper.

The team kept attacking at the Horden goal finding their flow and playing some lovely football. On the 90th minute of play Zarr had a superb strike which was palmed away by the keeper, midfielder Ellie picked up the loose ball and finished the game with a fourth goal for the team.

Player of the match today was awarded to Jo for her excellent performance over the 90 minutes. Starting on the right wing and taking one for the team slotting in at centre half due to injury where she done a fantastic job.

Overall, a game of two half’s. The first very poor collectively as a team but seeing the girls listen at half time and redeem themselves in the second. A good well earned 3 points for the table.
