Match Report

Today we played Boldon Ladies at home for the second time in 5 days. Due to the light the referee decided on two 35 minute halves.

The game saw a good battle between the two sides. It was Boldon took the lead first in the 7th minute of play seeing us lose the ball in midfield and their striker take a chance from around 35 yards out hitting top right corner of the goal.

In the 11th minute of play a forward ball looked as though it was running out for a goal kick but young winger Ava raced to keep it in putting in a superb cross that good it hit off midfielder Ellie & rolled across the goal line to give us the equaliser.

In the 13th minute full back Jo received the ball and saw striker Mel in space down the left side of the pitch. Mel ran the ball to the bye line and towards the goal striking it from a very tight angle and putting it across the keeper.

In the 17th minute versatile Ellen turned two players on the edge of the box before putting a cross into the box put past keeper by a defender. A quality ball put into the corridor of uncertainty.

On the 33rd minute striker Mel receives the ball out on the left wing and drives it up the pitch spotting Charlene open in the box she crosses the ball in and Charlene taps it in to give us out 4th goal of the game.

In the 42nd minute Charlie comes and sweeps up the ball sending it over the top of the Boldon defence seeing striker Mel run onto it and have a try at lobbing the keeper. The ball rattles off the cross bar and partner striker Courtney races in to send the ball over the line.

Our final goal of the game came in the 62nd minute with a superb corner played in from midfield Lauren. Striker Mel jumped & headed the ball home at back post to give her a well deserved brace.

Player of the match today was awarded to Jodi for her excellent work-rate over the entire game. She was a rock within the back four as well as when she was stepping into centre midfield. She was calm and composed on the ball finding feet almost every time. Well deserved title today.

The girls played a superb game of football today working really hard for each other and scoring 6 brilliant team goals.
