Match Report

Today we played our last game of the 2024/2025 season away to Stockton Town Ladies. The game started seeing a really strong battle between the sides with chances being created at both ends.

It was us that took the lead first in the 11th minute of play. It was some great forward play between the team seeing the ball played forward to Ellen. Ellen played the ball through to the left wing where Ava raced in and beat the Stockton keeper to score her first goal of the game.

On the 18th minute Stockton break and find the equaliser.

The team reacted well to the goal seeing plenty of attacking play. In the 25th minute striker Mel was fouled outside the box on one of these attacks. A freekick was awarded seeing Ellie take it from around 25 yards out. Ellie placed the ball perfectly sending it straight into the top left corner of the goal.

Stockton break again in the 42nd minute to claw back the equaliser for the second time in the game.

The second half saw Stockton pressure at us and force errors.

In the 65th minute an error saw the Stockton striker steal the ball and travel to goal. Steph done well to get her body in the way slightly turning her back as the ball as high seeing it hit her shoulder and the referee awarded a freekick which they converted and took the lead for the first time in the game.

The girls attacked straight back at Stockton looking for the equaliser. Their number 10 played our striker onside but another poor call by the referee sees an offside decision. Midfielder Ellie gets frustrated and her outburst causes her to be sin binned and see the team down to 10 players for 10 minutes.

On the 77th minute we are caught out holding onto the ball too long which allowed a Stockton player to steal the ball and score.

Player of the match was awarded to captain Steph who worked extremely hard sweeping up, using her body and speed at the back to keep Stockton from converting further changes. A brilliant performance with lots of work rate from the pacey centre half. Well done skipper.
