Rutherford AFC bounced back from their recent defeat in emphatic fashion, dominating Durham United Panthers with a resounding 6-0 victory in freezing evening conditions. The match, played on an enormous pitch, presented challenges for both teams, but Rutherford's shift in formation and clinical finishing were key in securing their first clean sheet of the season.

From the outset, Rutherford were keen to make a statement and quickly found their rhythm, dominating possession with some sharp, quick passing. The change to a back four seemed to provide them with more stability, allowing the team to press forward while still maintaining a solid defensive shape. Despite the vast space on the pitch and the cold temperatures, Rutherford looked comfortable and in control as they dictated the tempo of the game.

Max Johnson was the standout performer, scoring an impressive hat trick, including two goals in the first half to give Rutherford a commanding 2-0 lead at the break.

Durham United Panthers, to their credit, played some good attacking football and showed real promise going forward, creating a few opportunities that Rutherford's defense had to work hard to shut down. The Panthers’ backline remained resolute, but they struggled to cope with Rutherford’s attacking pressure.

The second half saw Rutherford continue their dominance, and their attacking depth was on full display as they netted four more goals. Max Billingham, who had been a constant threat throughout the match, added a brace. Michael Burns also got in on the action and Max Johnson completed his hat trick.

Man of match today was Max Johnson with special mention going to Amir, Elliott, Connor and Max Billingham who all played very well. It was great to see Joe back in action and Fin starting in midfield.
