Reverse fixture against Gateshead, a very strong team that plays really good football.

The last time we played them we suffered a 7-1 defeat where we were barely in the game.
Today we went out with the will and determination to win a game. The first half won us the game, Jack dealt with absolutely everything thrown at him, our midfield of Jack, Joe and Joseph set the pace of the game and ran the middle of the pitch and the composure of Virgil van Dixon and nemanja Collins was top drawer, nothing player beat them and the pressing and pace of Lewis and Chester had the Gateshead back line on skates. We had full control of the game for the most and playing some really good football, if it wasn’t for the Gateshead keeper the scoreline may have been a little more flattering for the Rutherford lads.

Jack S - made some stellar saves today keeping the team in it and was unfortunate on the 2 that went in.

Virgil van Dixon - fast, strong and growing in confidence and ability weekly. Really good all around game today.

Nemanja Collins - hard as nails, again quietened down the Gateshead goal scorer. Really composed with his feet and picks out some great passes.

Joseph B - absolute terrier in the middle today and his link up play with Joe made them untouchable today.

Joe A - 1 goal and 2 assists and was unfortunate not to get more today. Really good all around game and had some really good duels with the Gateshead number 14.

Lewis - growing in confidence weekly, couple decent runs at the keeper today, closing balls with some real conviction.

Chester - goal and an assist today…. The coldest goal of the season so far, turned the keeper 2ce then megged him, told the oppo coach he was going to give them hell and he certainly did.

Jack G - great all around performance today, got the first goal to get us moving and covered every blade of Astro thereafter. Took players on, picked the right pass every time and put his body on the line to deny Gateshead in more than one occasion. Received a message from a parent saying he was colossus today. Well deserved MOTM.

Great all around performance today, and the perfect response to the leam game. To a player today we were a lot calmer on the ball and had the want and desire to win.
