Auckland Moors United Youth

Game Week 3

Game week 3 saw us take on Auckland Moors Youth. A team who have had a very good start to the season, and today was no different for them. We started the game well but as per the previous 2 week we switched off and conceded a goal from not clearing a loose ball on a corner. Their second seen them pass the ball like a prime Barcelona and pulled us apart. We did start to get a little traction in the game, Chester's fearlessness in front of opposition players allowed him to bully his way up the pitch and from a well worked play seen him get his rewards with a goal. We did seen to have more of the ball from here but we allowed them back in by not reacting and not challenging for balls.

Second half seen Auckland get 3 goals in fairly quick succession, 2 of which nobody knew anything about on either team, and another which was an unlucky moment for Joseph Collins, where a deflected ball went the only way it would ever go when the game is going against you, the lad looked gutted but as a defender you get a few of them per season. A little reshuffle saw Jack G take to the left wing, and this is when the game changed. Jack was a man on a mission and drove at the Auckland defence with everything he had, he was unfortunate on his first attempt but his second seen him get his reward, this really spurred the lads on and there was a feeling in the air. This didn't last too long as a precise thru ball from the kick off seen the Auckland striker 1v1 with Jack S in goal and they got another back. We didn't give up and kept the pressure on and Jack G won the ball in the middle again and drove straight to goal, pulling another back for us. We switched on from this kick off and the pass only went as far as Joe A who ran the line into goal, there was a very keen Jack in the box, hoping for his 3rd of the day but Joe slipped it past the keeper, cool as ever.

Little bit of a funny one today, we played at our best at times, also not quite how we know we can play at times. We did end up mixing the formation up a little to try and help out in areas where we were over run, this both helped and hindered the lads with the movement (something for us to work on). I think the change from the smaller grass pitches to the larger 3G took us by surprise a little but we'll have to adapt as that will happen all season.

Well done to todays MOTM Jack Grey, defensively he was a rock at the back. Offensively he was unstoppable going forward, he really fancied it today and got the goals he deserved.
