Rutherford Ladies were the first ever women's side in the Borough of Gateshead when formed in 2001 and entered the Northumberland League, finishing in fifth position in their first season. The team moved to the DCFA League in 2005 seeing it grow from strength to strength with over 4 divisions to date.
The team came runner ups in the DCFA Womens league, division 1 in the 2024/2025 season and gained promotion into the NERWL.
We currently have 4 ladies teams so can cater for all abilties. A trememdous section that is continue to grow and seeing the female youth section blossoming also.
Rutherford Ladies play their home games at Rutherford AFC's Farnacres ground, based in Lobley Hill, Gateshead. We train Tuesday evening 7:00pm-8:30pm and play our matches on Sunday afternoons.
